We had too many expectations from 2021. After the trauma of 2020, we didn’t quite know what to expect from the new year. But we hoped it wouldn’t be as bad as the previous year. However, 2021 had its own story to tell. The second wave hit us pretty hard. In the process, we lost our loved ones too. India was back in another lockdown. Somehow we all got through it. Cheers to everyone who survived the worst. A special thanks to all the health workers who put others before them and worked day and night to make the situation better. Here we are, wrapping up 2021 with a quick recap of all the major events that went down across the world.
1. Joe Biden Taking Oath
On the 20th of January, Joe Biden took an oath to become the 46th US President. Kamala Harris took oath as the first woman Vice President. The event took place under extreme security measures. Meanwhile, the event took place just two weeks after the attack by Trump supporters.
2. Olympics 2021
The Summar Games 2020 were delayed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and was held this year in Tokyo. This Olympics was an incredible one for India. India finished 48th which is her best in four decades. Also, Neeraj Chopra brought home India’s first-ever Gold Medal in Athletics in the Olympics.
3. IPL 2021
IPL Season is the time when everyone waits to see their favorite foreign players play with their Indian Favorites. The season started with enthusiasm but had to be paused due to covid infection in the Bio Bubble. The rest of the matches resumed in UAE in the month of July. Moreover, the winner of IPL 2021 was Chennai Super Kings who took the trophy for the 4th time in this tournament.
4. Euro Cup 2021
The tournament was held from 11 June to 11 July 2021 due to the Pandemic. The tournament was won by the ‘Italy National Football Team.” The runner-up was England. The final match between England and Italy took place at Wembley Stadium in London, England.
5. Fall of Kabul
News that shocked the entire world was the capture of Afghanistan by the Taliban. The way they took over the entire country was very rapid and flabbergasting. Also, the complete capture of the entire nation took place on the 15th of August 2021.
6. ICC Men’s T20 World Cup
This tournament was kind of a disappointment to all the Indian Cricket fans out there. India’s journey in this tournament began with a defeat against Pakistan in their first match. The winners of the World Cup were Australia. They won their maiden T20 World Cup title as they defeated New Zealand in the final by 8 wickets. A delight for Australia for their wrapping up of 2021.

7. Aryan Khan Arrest
The media just couldn’t stop talking about this. Aryan Khan was arrested by the NCB in Mumbai’s Cruise Ship in a drugs case. It was all over the news as Aryan Khan is the son of Indian Superstar Sharukh Khan. He even spent 22 days in Arthur Road Jail for interrogation. Speculations of conspiracy and witch hunts were revolving all over Bollywood.
8. Harnaaz Sandhu
India was finally crowned Miss Universe after 21 long years. Harnaaz who hails from Punjab made India incredibly proud. Moreover, the way she carried herself in the completion proved that she deserved the crown. Also, India had won the crown in 1996 and 2000 respectively. A great feat for wrapping up 2021.
