Remember the mansion shown as the Raichand house in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham? It’s no secret now that it’s actually a mansion in the UK called ‘Waddesdon Manor’. Like with every palace and mansion, there’s definitely a ghost or two lurking somewhere in its corners. Turns out that Waddesdon Manor may also be haunted by one. A very unique ghost, one who’s strict on cleanliness. But first, let’s get a little background on the history of the Waddesdon Manor:

Quick history of Waddesdon

Waddesdon Manor is a mansion in Buckinghamshire, England. It’s a grand manor sprawled across acres of land. A country house named after the village of Waddesdon it’s situated in, this manor was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, a member of the British Rothschild family of bankers. The property is being managed by the Rothschild Foundation and is a popular tourist attraction in the vicinity.
The ghost of Miss Alice and her bell

There are rumours of the manor being haunted by one Miss Alice, the sister of Baron Ferdinand. Legend has it that this woman was big on cleanliness and enforced strict rules on housekeeping. Apparently, she had a bell that some housekeeping staff members have heard ringing in the house in the dead of night. Miss Alice’s ghost may still be wandering the halls at night with her trusty bell handy, probably inspecting the state of housekeeping everyday.
We have to admit, Miss Alice doesn’t seem so terrifying compared to some of the other ghosts we know. But rumour has it that she was a pretty tough character when she was alive. As long as she’s just ringing bells to get people to clean her house, and not actually harming anyone, we guess it’s ok for her to stick around. Anyway, ghost or not, Waddesdon Manor is a fine mansion!
