Wednesday is proving to be a good day for India in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. While boxer Lovlina Borgohain received the bronze medal, Neeraj Chopra made it to the javelin throw finals in a single throw of 86.65 metres. Additionally, wrestlers Deepak Punia (86 kg) and Ravi Dahiya (57 kg) made it to the semi-finals after defeating their opponents. The number of Indian winners at Olympics 2020 now reaches to 3.
Tokyo 2020 Olympics is the first one for the 23-years old Lovlina, who lost the semi-final match against the world number 1, Busenaz Sürmeneli, the Turkish boxer, by 0-5. Moreover, it is only India’s second medal in boxing by a woman boxer.
While it was all happiness for Ravi Dahiya and Deepak Puniya in wrestling, Anshu Malik suffered defeat in the women’s 57 kg. However, she will now be competing in the repechage round.
Both Ravi and Deepak will be playing their semi-final matches today in the afternoon. While Ravi will be competing against Nurislam Sanayev, a Kazakhstan wrestler, Deepak will play his match against the USA wrestler David Taylor. The viewers can watch them from 2:45 PM IST and 3:00 PM IST, respectively.
