It’s also about a Rajinikanth — no, a superstar Rajinikanth fan marrying a man who falls asleep while watching movies. Meenakshi Sundareshwar, directed by Karan Johar, brings to life the story of two very different people who find love and hope in each other. Long-distance produces strife between them as they prepare to enter the institution of marriage.

Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani star in Netflix’s new film Meenakshi Sundareshwar, which appears to be the perfect rom-com drama for the season. Abhimanyu portrays an engineer who believes he can be the ideal husband since his job teaches him to never give up. Sanya, on the other hand, is a fiery woman who enjoys making people ‘even more nervous.’ The south Indian backdrop of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, is the appropriate location to introduce a Rajni devotee who is left speechless after learning that her fiance doesn’t appreciate movies.

Sanya and Abhimanyu encounter one another in an arranged marriage situation in the Meenakshi Sundareshwar teaser. Also, Malhotra portrays a character who is talkative and cheeky. Whereas Abhimanyu is quiet on the outside yet a master of swift retorts. Sanya and Abhimanyu’s personalities are contrasted by a Rajinikanth reference. She is a die-hard follower of the megastar, whilst movies appear to send him to sleep.
