Sabyasachi Mukherjee Targeted By Trolls Yet Again!

Sabyasachi Mukherjee

Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee and his fame is plummet yet again. His latest online jewellery campaign has gone viral — all for the wrong reasons — just a few weeks after his Mangalsutra ad sparked trolls’ ire for hurting ‘Hindu feelings.’

While Sabya is no stranger to controversy or nationalistic trolls, one has to wonder if controversy is a draw for his brands or if it’s just another unlucky coincidence that he’s the target of unconventional campaigns. Trolls attacked Sabya’s H&M brand cooperation earlier last year, accusing it of being excessively pricey and showing same-sex couples in some posts.

Moreover, he was then chastised for his advertisements of a ‘Mangalsutra’ exquisite jewellery collection. Moreover, that time he had to remove the campaign after it garnered widespread criticism for being anti-Hindu.

While self-proclaiming online custodians of Indian culture frequently criticise Sabya for his outspokenness. Also unconventional attitude. These violent trolls have this time equated his ad to domestic abuse victims.

This is not the first or second time Sabyasachi Mukherjee has been trolled for no good reason.

“Oh these are models!” wrote ManGo Man on Twitter. I assumed they were super-wealthy domestic violence victims. I don’t see any shringaar or even happiness. To avoid humiliation, they appear to be burdened with keeping their heads high and wearing expensive jewels around their necks.”

Moreover, these remarks reminded us of all the unwanted advice and criticism women receive. That too for simply looking a certain way, as well as the criticism they receive for their bodies and appearances. Despite the fact that the ad is in target of the trolls on the internet, many people came out to support the designer and the models.

“The number of women I’ve seen troll these three models because of their appearance is horrible. The commercial is for Sabyasachi jewellery. So, I’m not sure why they’re so much in obsession with their lustreless skin. Let’s assume you have a problem with models in advertisements that seem like average Indian ladies.” One of the users commented.
