It was a UEFA Champions League night starting from 12:30 AM IST. And with some astonishing and shocking results, the Champions League 2021-22 group stage has come alive. Starting from Lionel Messi’s first goal for PSG to a shocking defeat of Real Madrid to Sheriff Tiraspol at the Santiago Bernabeu, the night had it all.
The match between PSG and Manchester City saw the reunion of Pep Guardiola and the little genius Lionel Messi. Additionally, the team from France went on to defeat the English team by 2-0, owing to the goals from Idrissa Gueye and Messi. With this win, PSG is now at the top of the UEFA Champions League Table in their group.
In the Group D stage match, Sebastian Thill’s goal at the 90th minute sealed the deal for Sheriff Tiraspol against the Spanish club Real Madrid. Additionally, it is one of the greatest disappointments in UCL history. Sheriff Tiraspol won the match by 2-1, with Karim Benzema scoring a penalty for Madrid to tie the game at the 69th minute. However, this wasn’t enough as Sebastian Thill had different plans.
In another Group D match, Inter played a draw against Shakhtar Donetsk.

Liverpool Defeat FC Porto, Atletico Madrid Beat AC Milan In Their UCL Group Stage Matches
Besides, Liverpool had it easy against FC Porto in Group B and defeated it by 5-1. Liverpool’s attack played wonderfully. Mohammed Salah, one of the most crucial players in the team, scored twice. In addition, the Brazilian Roberto Firmino also scored two goals in the match. FC Porto and goalkeeper Diogo Costa might want to forget this match and look forward to winning the rest.
The current La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid, too had a good day in the field. They defeated AC Milan by 2-1 in the Group B stage match. It was yet another nail-biting finish, with both the Atletico goals coming after the 80th minute. While Antoine Griezmann scored the goal at the 84th minute, Luiz Suarez won it for the Spanish side in the extra time.
Ajax, too won its game against Besiktas in the Group C match, beating from 2-0. Thanks to the goals from Steven Berghuis and Sebastian Haller. In another Group C match, Dortmund overcame the challenge from Sporting Lisbon, defeating them 1-0.
On the other hand, Club Brugge defeated the German team, RB Leipzig, in group A. Hence causing yet another shock in the UCL group stages.
