If you’re going on a trip with your pet, whether for pleasure or need, you’ll need to take some precautions to ensure that your pet’s requirements are met along the journey.

Here are some pet travel tips that might help!
1. Make sure to pack a travel kit
Include your pet’s medical records, as well as confirmation of current vaccines. Bring regular food, water, meds, and bowls for your pets. You should also include any cleaning equipment you’ll need, such as waste bags and a scoop.
Pack a few toys, perhaps some new ones for novelty and a few old favourites, to keep your pet happy and amused during the trip. Finally, remember to bring a pet first-aid kit.
2. Watch out for the head!
Allowing your dog to ride with his head out the window is not a good idea. There’s no doubt that this brings joy to certain dogs, and it’s adorable to watch. In the event of a collision or if you have to suddenly slam on the brakes or turn, your pet may be struck by passing debris or thrown out the window.
3. Keep a check on the paperwork
If you’re taking a long trip with your pet, you won’t be able to travel very far without the proper documentation. Many locations demand that new dogs have a current health certificate certified by a licenced veterinarian.
Veterinarians will certify that your pet is healthy. Also, notify that your pet is up-to-date on any vaccines required. Whether you’re travelling, check with the airline to see if any additional paperwork is necessary.

4. Keep your pet hydrated
Pets can easily become dehydrated when travelling if they don’t have frequent access to water whenever they need it. When travelling, keep this in mind and bring enough water for your four-legged companion.
Allowing animals to self-regulate their water intake, such as by attaching a dish to the inside of their crate, is best, but if this isn’t possible, make regular stops to allow them to drink.
