Navratri 2022: Here Are 5 Places In India Where You Can Celebrate In Full Swing

Navratri 2022: The year’s most colorful celebration has returned. Now is the time to examine purity in thought and deed and to delve deeply into divinity. The occasion is Navratri, a festival that lasts nine days and is devoted to the veneration of Goddess Durga’s nine avatars. Navratri, which translates to “nine nights,” is a national holiday that is marked by continuous mantra chanting, temple bells, and arti echoes.

The Maa Durga-honoring celebration of Navratri is fervently observed during the “Ashwin” month. The holy Ashwin month, when we welcome the winter season, falls between September and October on the English calendar. The Goddess will be venerated from September 26 to October 4 this year.

Here are five places in India that will promise you an extraordinary celebration this Navratri 2022.

1. Kolkata

Unquestionably, one of the best locations to observe Navratri is Kolkata. Every lane of West Bengal witnesses giant statues of the goddess Durga in intricately painted pandals. The Durga Pooja or Durgotsav celebration of Navratri, which takes place in Kolkata, honours the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura, the shape-shifting buffalo monster who was impenetrable to both men and gods.

2. Gujarat

The world’s longest traditional dance festival, Navratri in Gujarat, is one of the top destinations for Navratri in 2022. People congregate to perform their best dances to dandiya and Garba music while wearing vividly coloured clothing adorned with mirrors, buttons, and embroidery.

3. Varanasi

One of India’s holiest towns, Varanasi, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, goes all out to celebrate the Navratri holiday in big style, making it one of the best venues to do so. Ramcharitmanas chants echo throughout Varanasi for 10 days as thousands of diyas light up the ghat.

4. Mysore

The Mysore Royal Palace lights up with thousands of lights during Navratri and it is one of the primary attractions in Karnataka. The Nadahabba festival, also known as Dasara, is a ten-day celebration that features music and dance performances. The most eagerly anticipated event of the entire festival is the ceremonial procession on the final day of Navratri.

5. Bastar

To observe Navratri in the traditional manner, travel to Bastar in Chhattisgarh. The Bastar district celebrates Navratri or Dussehra at the time when their indigenous goddess Devi Mavli meets her other sisters, unlike any other place in India. Deities from nearby towns come to the Danteshwari Temple in Jagdalpur during the 75-day festival.
