In New Delhi, the 68th National Awards 2022 winners were revealed. Suriya and Ajay Devgn will share the Best Actor award for the year for their performances in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Soorarai Pottru, respectively. This is Suriya’s first National Award, while Ajay Devgn’s third (he won Best Actor for his roles in The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002) and Zakhm (1998)). Based on incidents in the life of G Gopinath, the creator of Simplifly Deccan, Soorarai Pottru also took home awards for Best Feature Film, Best Actress for Aparna Balamurali, Best Screenplay, and Best Background Score. Tanhaji, a biographical drama about the great Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare, earned the prize for best mass-market entertainment film.
K R Sachidanandan receives award for Best Director posthumously for the Malayalam thriller Ayyappanum Koshiyum.
Also, Biju Menon receives Best Supporting Actor award. At the age of 47, Sachy passed away from a heart attack in 2020.
Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli is Best Supporting Actress in recognition of her performance in Sivaranjaniyum Innum Sila Pengalum. She also took home awards for Best Tamil Film and Best Editing.
Varun Buddhadev, a young actor in Toolsidas Junior, received a special jury mention for the best Hindi film in National Awards 2022.
Best Location Sound and Best Kannada Film are given to Dollu. Best Cinematography and Best Bengali Film awards went to Avijatrik.
Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam won Best Malayalam Film, while Colour Photo won Best Telugu Film.
The Most Film-Friendly State is Madhya Pradesh, and Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh receives special mentions.

Vipul Shah, a director, is in charge of this year’s feature film jury. Moreover, Dharam Gulati, a member of the panel and a cinematographer, announced the winners.
Later this year, the National Film Awards will conduct an event to distribute awards.
