What’s the latest update from the world of the rich, famous, privileged , Maldivian Holidayers? While the rest of the country is dying or on the way to their graves, IPL players are facing a whole other predicament.
Countries are hesitating to take back their citizens especially those in India during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Even IPL players haven’t been spared this time due to the fear of the mutant virus.
Of course, Ambani arranges private planes for his team!
However, with Mukesh Ambani’s big hand in something, anyone could travel to the moon and back and no government can stop them. He has arranged a charter flight for overseas players in travelling to different countries.

A little back-story:
Ever since covid began to breach the carefully created bio-bubble around IPL players, it was deemed fit to cancel the league this year. The Indian Premier League 2021 is now indefinitely suspended much to the chagrin of fans.

The BCCI and the franchises were busy brainstorming on how to ensure the safe return of team players and support staff members to their respective countries. They have been collaborating with boards and lobbying with governments for permission.
How Mumbai Indians stepped in to save the day:
Mumbai Indians is Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance owned team. Other teams like SRH (Sunrisers Hyderabad) and PBKS (Punjab Kings), are unable to schedule flights. Mumbai Indians already instructed the management to arrange charter flights for all. The five-time IPL champion is arranging separate charter flights for overseas players to South Africa, New Zealand, and The Caribbean.
The news broke out on Mumbai Indians’ Instagram handle. Check out the stories below:
A classic Maldivian Quarantine:
Although the players are jetting off to their home countries in private, they will first have to quarantine. Especially since Australia has been very vocal about this requirement. Which is why the Australian contingent of players have flown to the Maldives. They will be accompanied by Mumbai Indians Head Coach ‘Mahela Jayawardhane’ to quarantine for a 14-day period before leaving to Australia and Sri Lanka respectively.

But other team players will miss the Maldives quarantine. Since players from New Zealand will isolate for 14 days in New Zealand while South African players will follow through with home isolation.
Blueprint for the Charter Flights’ drop-off path:
The charter flights to New Zealand, South Africa, and the Caribbean will be dropping off players at Auckland, Johannesburg, and Trinidad.
The New Zealand Charter flight will drop off Trent Bolt Adam Milne, James Neesham, Shane Bond (Bowling Coach).
The Caribbean charter flight will be dropping off South African Players Quinten de Kock, and Marco Jansen.
The charter flight to Johannesburg will make a refuelling stop at the OR Tambo airport and will then fly to Trinidad where Kieron Pollard will be alighting.
