Met Gala 2022: The Best Dressed? Hell Yes!

The Met Gala 2022 on Monday brought back superstars on the red carpet in unconventional yet gorgeous costumes for the big night, after a two-year hiatus.

The night was lit as the celebration of American design was themed to gilded glamour, sprouting classic black tuxedos for many of the men and lots of dresses in black and white for the women, from hosts Blake Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds to pregnant Sophie Turner with husband Joe Jonas and Indian Natasha Poonwalla.

Others paid homage to New York City in literal terms, while others glistened in dazzling golds and silvers.

Check out some of the best dressed here!

1. Kim Kardashian

Kim stole the show as she strolled hand-in-hand with fiancé Pete Davidson, creating sartorial history by donning THE dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to former US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy in 1962.

2. Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds

The evening’s hosts, Blake Lively wore a Versace gown, while Ryan Reynolds was dressed in a brown velvet suit. Blake sported a golden and rose gold ensemble that shimmered into a baby blue hue when a huge bow was pulled. “Rather than going to fashion for inspiration, I turned to New York City architecture,” Blake explained.

3. Natasha Poonawalla

Natasha Poonawalla wowed the desi internet by bringing Indian representation to the Met Gala red carpet in 2022. Wearing a saree with a bustier and intricate jewellery, the businesswoman nailed the night’s ‘Gilded Glamour’ theme while also adding a touch of Indian elegance. Sabyasachi Mukherjee, an acclaimed Indian designer, created her golden saree and jewels, while Schiaparelli provided the bustier.

4. Hailey Bieber

The chic YSL halter-neck slip gown had a leg slit and was paired with a feathered duster for some much-needed drama. Hailey wore the satin silk gown with black pantyhose in a sleek top knot. Following a ‘mini-stroke,’ the beauty appeared to be in high spirits after undergoing an operation to repair a hole in her heart.

5. Cara Delevigne

The supermodel made her red carpet debut wearing a red cropped jacket and tailored red trousers. She wore it with a pair of red platform pumps and a decorative stick in her hand. But, with the second half of her outfit, she ditched her coat and showed off the full extent of the Gilded Glamour theme.

6. Venessa Hudgens

Jeremy Scott developed a fully sheer Moschino ball gown for the actress. Embroidery on the bodice, puff sleeves and a high neckline adorned the see-through design. Moreover, Hudgens accessorised with a diamond cuff bracelet, drop earrings, and a plethora of stunning rings.

7. Shawn Mendes

Shawn sported a navy and burgundy suit jacket and pants that were perfectly on theme and exuded ‘Bridgerton’ vibes. Also, he missed her ex Camila on the red carpet due to their varied arrival timings.

8. Camila Cabello

Camila Cabello wore a Prabal Gurung gown with a midriff top, while theatre producer Jordan Roth revealed his own outfit by removing a black, egg-like shell off a similar bulbous trousers suit. Moreover, in a black and white bedazzled helmet piece and slinky gown with headpiece, Janelle Monáe gave a regal wave.
