Lionel Messi, one of the greatest footballers, bid adieu to Barcelona yesterday due to financial constraints. The fans are shocked, sad and could not believe that it could happen. Messi played his debut match in red and blue jersey in 2004, and what the man from Argentina has done since then is no less than magic, brilliance, and awe-inspiring. The 17-years journey has ended, with Lionel Messi winning 37-titles for the club he has always wanted to be a part of. Additionally, the Rosario man is also the highest scorer for Barcelona.

1. Barcelona vs. Manchester United

The final of the Champions League 2010-11 was a treat to watch if you are a Barcelona or Messi fan. The fans and football will never forget Lionel Messi’s iconic performance against Sir Alex Ferguson’s star-studded side. Messi was awarded the Man of the Match award for the finals, which the Spanish side won by 3-1.

2. Barcelona vs. Real Madrid

The La Liga match between the two-arch tournament rivals is always a challenging game and one of the most loved. In 2017, Barcelona had to win the game at any cost to stay in the race for the trophy. Barcelona was leading 2-1 when Rogriguez levelled the score in the 85th minute. The two sides met in 2009 in the Champions League final. Additionally, the match was mainly about the rivalry between Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, Lionel Messi won the battle in this match with him scoring a header that the football world will never forget. Barcelona won the game 2-0 and became the winner of the Champions League 2009.

5. Barcelona vs. Liverpool 

While the 2018-19 season did not end how Barcelona would expect it to in the Champions League, Lionel Messi gave another mind-blowing performance against Liverpool, scoring a mouth-opening freekick. While this first-leg brilliance from one of the greatest was not enough for the team to make it to the final, Culers will never forget Lionel Messi’s individual performance at Camp Nou.
