Koffee with Karan and the Boycott Saga: 7 Reasons why the Koffee Couch is doomed

Koffee with Karan and the Boycott Saga

Karan Johar will try hard to convince you in every episode that his Koffee Couch is truly a manifesting couch. He is consistently seen trying to build a stack of cards with the pieces that remain of the Bollywood industry. Koffee with Karan Season 7 is an absolute binge-watch fiesta. But it seems to be struggling to appeal to the Indian audience. People just don’t seem to be in the mood of warming up to Karan Johar and his chat show. It’s becoming obvious that every guest who turns up to promote their movie on Koffee with Karan is eventually getting boycotted along with their movie, even before its release. First Laal Singh Chaddha and now Liger. Despite Karan Johar declaring that his guests seem to manifest their desires on his couch, here are 7 reasons why we think it’s doomed:

1. Sushant Singh Rajput’s death:

Sushant sigh Rajput Karan Johar fiasco

People still haven’t gotten over Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and blame Karan Johar for bringing about his demise. Rumors of him being boycotted by Dharma Productions and his movie Drive not being released in theaters have given his fans enough reason to believe that Sushant was sidelined by the likes of Karan Johar.

2. Karan Johar is the clique queen of Bollywood:

Karan Johar is the clique queen of Bollywood

No matter how much he tries to change his reputation of harboring nepotism by hiring fresh talent via his talent agency DCA or by associating with South superstars, the audience still views him as the Queen Bee of cliques in Bollywood. So clearly, he isn’t ready to give up inviting guests with famous surnames like Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, and Janhvi Kapoor even though their careers have nothing substantial to show.

3. He is to blame for the Khayali Pulav we’ve been taught around love:

karan johar unrealistic love stories

Some of us have had to overcome the utterly unrealistic standards of love taught by Johar movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, and more. This is something he has admitted to on his show. And we still struggle in our relationships because it’s so deeply ingrained and hammered in us. The audience is still hurting about the Khayali Pulav around love served by Johar.

4. That one infamous party:

People are pretty pissed about that one party video Karan Johar posted on his social media of a party at his home where big names in Bollywood seem to be allegedly doing drugs. The entire episode turned into a huge controversy and is still stapled to his reputation.

5. The boycott brigade is ruthless:

The online boycott gang of trolls is now ruthlessly going after anyone who’s a part of the mainstream fraternity of Bollywood. They seem to be in no mood to give anyone from the elite club of superstars any attention. So anyone making an appearance on Koffee with Karan is now a direct target for the troll army of the boycott gang.

6. Comments that court controversy:

The format of Karan Johar’s show is such that the most controversial comments are made and secrets are revealed. Guests can’t help but court some new controversy in every episode. Be it the Koffee with Karan Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s episode which got them briefly suspended from the team or the numerous instances where the rapid-fire answers landed the celebs in soup and led to a number of cat fights, Koffee with Karan has been controversial from the get-go and is more of a bane for the guests than a boon.

7. Every other reason:

Karan Johar south film industry

Right from Kangna and the Nepotism fiasco, the rise of the South industry, Karan Johar’s sucking up to south superstars to save his dying business, and the fact that every Karan Johar party ends up in an outbreak. We think the Koffee Couch is doomed for every other controversy that’s constantly plaguing Karan Johar.

On a side note, we love watching Koffee with Karan and we don’t mean to hate on the man. This article is just for entertainment purposes and states what’s already transpiring in the world of Bollywood. Koffee with Karan is as catty as it gets in every season!
