It was a much-awaited match between Italy and Spain in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals. The Euro 2020 champions, Italy, gave it all in the game against the team they defeated in the semi-final in the Euro 2020. However, it wasn’t enough for the team in the blue jersey. And the 2012 Euro Champion, Spain, came at the top to play in the final.

With this loss, Italy’s incredible run of remaining unbeaten in 37 straight matches has come to an end. Additionally, this was also the first loss for the coach Roberto Mancini. Who took the job when Italy was at one of their lowest positions.

Owing to the double-score from Ferran Torres, Spain was ahead in the match by 2-0. However, the game had its share of thrill, with Leonardo Bonucci getting a red card at the 47th minute. Moreover, after Spain was leading by 2-0 till the 83rd minute, Lorenzo Pellegrini made sure to score for Italy to make it 2-1. But, this was too little too late for the 2020 Euro Champions. And they were finally defeated at the international level after 37 matches.

Additionally, Gavi, who plays for Barcelona, played his debut match for Spain. Debuting at a mere age of 17 years, Gavi became the youngest player ever to represent Spain at the international level.
