India’s second wave of Covid-19 is not entirely over. Experts suggest that the third wave could occur soon. However, this was not enough to make people stay at their homes. As north India sees high temperatures, people have started to go for vacations in hill stations like Manali, Kufri, Shimla, Dalhousie, and many others.
Famous tourist spots are seeing people not following the social distancing norms. Besides, the tourists say that since reports suggest the arrival of the third wave in the country, they want to make the best use of this time. The rooms in the famous hotels are full. Even the most interior places to stay are witnessing full rooms.
The government has lifted certain restrictions so that the tourism sector can see a boost in the state. It is not compulsory to have a negative RTPCR report now to enter into the state. Tourism contributes a great deal to the GDP of Himachal Pradesh. However, the sector is suffering due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The restrictions has hit the industry.
Amit Kashyap, the Director of Tourism Department, also informed that the state has witnessed a good increase in tourists. Moreover, almost six to seven lakh tourists have come to witness the beauty of the hill stations since June.
Hill Stations Such As Manali Sees Irresponsible Behaviour From The Tourists
However, people’s irresponsible behaviour is catching the attention of social media users. The tourists could be seen without masks and in large gatherings. The rush of people has caused havoc to a certain extent in the state. A senior police officer of the state has called for responsible behaviour from the visitors. Moreover, he has also asked people not to rush to different places amid the pandemic.
The scenes from Mall Road in Manali can scare the viewers, where thousands of people can be seen together. Social media users are posting memes amid the scenes coming from Manali and various other hill stations.
Some are even comparing this to the situation when patients could not get a bed for themselves in the hospitals during the beginning of the second wave. The memes read, “Before we were not getting beds in hospitals, now we are not able to get hotel rooms.”
Experts suggest that the third wave could hit India during the third week of August.
