Delhi Crime Season 2 this Deserves To Go To Emmys Again

Delhi Crime, the widespread actual crime procedural that was nominated for an International Emmy, has what we like to call the “extension problem.” In this case, we are talking about a situation where a season with a finished arc is carried over into a subsequent season once it gets popular, undercutting the effectiveness of the initial idea. Yes, Delhi Crime Season 2 is here!

Delhi Crime definitely intended to be a short miniseries when it made its Netflix premiere in 2019. The seven-episode series, is by Richie Mehta. It reconstructed the 2012 Delhi gangrape investigation with the Delhi Police playing both the victim and the hero—but never the criminal. Delhi Crime produced a compelling season of television. Moreover, despite its propensity to unconditionally support the official version of events and ignore structural flaws.

A significant portion of it is by the nature of the case it details. The 2012 gang rape and its investigation are still up for debate. The case has become ingrained in people’s minds as vividly as it did ten years ago. It is serving as a symbol of crime and punishment in the nation.

Delhi Crime Season 2 has a new director, writer, cinematographer, editor, and perpetrators! Lacking precisely this, which is why the show might not have needed an extension in the first place. For one thing, the second season had trouble identifying the undercurrent that highlighted the first season’s narrative. The season pits DCP Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah) and her coworkers against a serial killer gang. Gang that brutally kills and robs wealthy senior citizens in South Delhi. It is based on “Moon Gazer”. It is a chapter in former Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar’s book Khaki Files: Inside Stories of Police Investigations.
