On Friday’s edition of Shark Tank India, Ashneer Grover was his usual forthright self. The founder of Bharat Pe told a pitcher right to his face that the business idea he was pursuing was substandard and that he should focus his efforts elsewhere.
“Problem sahi hai,” Ashneer remarked, explaining why he couldn’t support his business—a platform that might connect students with potential scholarship-funding firms. “Tere se naa ho paega” (The problem is clear. However, you cannot handle it), he explained. Also, before going on to explain how the competitor couldn’t even utilise his own company to recruit students for his coding scholarship programme.

“First and foremost, consider yourself. How will you solve problems for others if you can’t solve your own? Mereko lagta hai bhai tu naukri dhoond naukri dhoond. Tereko pehele samjhna padega dhanda hota kaise hai. Unicorn ke liye kood gaya tu. Chorr de isko, chorr de ispe apna bhi time waste karra hai. I believe you should look for work. You should first learn how to run a company. You set out on a quest to become a unicorn. You’re not going to be able to do it. Allow it to be. He told the disgruntled contestant, you’re wasting your time.”
Ashneer rubbed it in by claiming that the best part of the pitch was the company’s logo and title, which quickly devolved once the participant came.

Namita Thapar, his co-shark, was not impressed with his tone. “Yaar Ashneer, thoda sa toh sugar coated bola karo,” she advised. “Ek question mujhe aap log se poochna hai,” says Ashneer (I have to ask you all something). Why can’t we inform them (the contestants) that while they won’t be able to scale it, they will only be able to operate a small or midsize business?
“But why do you have to be so blunt and advise him to find a job or earn a salary?” she questioned. Other sharks, on the other hand, agreed that Ashneer was correct in his handling of the pitcher this time.
Sometimes the kindest thing you can do for someone is not to do anything nice for them. “Aaj agar maine hadka dia hai usko, ki tere se nahi ho paega, best karma kia hai iske liye” Ashneer added. Finally, everyone agreed that they hoped the contestant would one day prove them wrong.
