The inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden on 20th January has been the talk of the world. Several esteemed personalities were present for this historical moment that also marked the shift of office from Republican to Democrat.

While the internet has done its thing & given us brand new Joe Biden memes, fashion appreciation posts on the coats worn at the ceremony, and much more, here’s 5 things about the man at the center of it all:
#1 Women Empowerment Champion:
Biden, former VP in the Obama administration, has been a public representative for around five decades & was the one to write and champion the Violence Against Women Act.

#2 The Age Factor:
At 29, Biden was one of the youngest people ever elected to the US Senate & now at 77, he is the oldest leader to take oath as president of the United States.

#3 ‘Normal people things’ that he’s fond of too-
1.Dogs; We’ll have his 2 German shepherds, named Champ and Major going on walks in the Whitehouse soon.
2.Cars; He still has the ’67 Corvette Stingray he got from his father

3.Ice cream, well who doesn’t love ice cream?! President Biden’s favorite flavor is chocolate chip.

4.Football; he was in fact a leading scorer for Delaware’s Archmere Academy while attending high school there.

#4 Overcoming Stutter
He had a childhood stutter & was mercilessly bullied over it. He defeated the stutter by reading and reciting Irish poems in front of a mirror to monitor & control his facial distortions. To this day, he can still recite long passages of Irish poetry from memory.
#5 Loss of Loved Ones

He has suffered a lot when it comes to tragedies related to the family. He lost his first wife Neilia & baby daughter Naomi in a car accident in 1972, merely 6 & a half years after he was married. His 2 sons, Beau & Hunter, were also victims of the accident but survived it. However, the elder son Beau died of Brain cancer in 2015.
