Karan Johar has ever since changed track and has worked towards giving the audience what it wants. He’s been trying to prove that he doesn’t just favor star kids but is willing to give talented actors an opportunity in Bollywood. Towards this end, Karan Johar started the Dharma Cornerstone Agency, a talent management firm under Dharma Productions. He introduced new faces on Instagram alongside star-kids like Shanaya Kapoor. Also, he picked his favorite non-nepotistic kids and is sticking with them for movie launches. Here are 5 actors who don’t belong to a prominent film family and are still starring in Karan Johar films.
1. Siddhant Chaturvedi:
Ever since Siddhant Chaturvedi’s famous diss of Ananya Panday on Rajeev Masand’s Newcomers Roundtable 2019, Siddhant Chaturvedi has Karan Johar’s eye on him. He starred in big banner movies like Bunty Aur Babli 2, Gully Boy, and now Gehraiyaan. Despite being an ‘outsider’ by his own admission, he is quickly scaling up in Bollywood.
2. Dhairya Karwa:
DCA Talent posted a “launch” video of Dhairya. Dhairya was much loved as Captain Sartaj Singh Chandok in URI: The Surgical Strike . Now, he’s starring alongside Ananya Panday, Deepika Padukone, and Siddhant Chaturvedi in Gehraiyaan. Dhairya Karwa doesn’t seem to have any important connections within the film industry and may be riding solely on talent in Bollywood.
3. Tripti Dimri:
Tripti Dimri was first launched in an Ekta Kapoor movie ‘Laila Majnu’ with her co-star Avinash Tiwary. Unfortuately, the movie didn’t do well. But the pair starred in Anushka Sharma’s ‘Bulbbul’ soon after. Tripti Dimri received immense praise for her role in Bulbbul. Soon, the Koffee with Karan host netted her. DCA Talent’s Instagram Page soon released Tripti’s launch video. We are yet to see her officially launched in a Karan Johar movie and she seems quite promising.
4. Vijay Deverakonda:
Its no secret that Karan Johar has been relying on South superstars to save face amidst the nepotism controversy. And so have the other big Bollywood producers. Vijay Deverakonda will soon be seen in the upcoming Dharma Productions movie ‘Liger‘ alongside Ananya Panday and Mike Tyson.
5. Kartik Aaryan:
Kartik Aaryan, a non-nepotistic actor was soon going to be launched in Karan Johar’s Dostana 2. But sadly, a bombardment of media reports stated that Kartik Aaryan had a “fallout” with him, is banned by Dharma Productions and will be replaced in Dostaana 2.
